Goblin Brothers

Goblin Bros. started in 2018, with an online store, goblinbros.com. In 2021, they opened their first brick-and-mortar location on Kentucky St. in Petaluma, CA. offering “fun for humans” with a wide selection of tabletop games and gifts for geek enthusiasts. In 2022, they were awarded Retailer of the Year by The Game Manufacturers Association (GAMA).

The previous website was built in 2018 as an online store and didn’t truly promote their new retail location and very similar to other game store sites where the products were viewed as a commodity. With the re-design, we presented unique offers and presented the store as a unique destination. The new site has seen a significant increase in sales and traffic as well as increased the visibility of the retail store on Google.

The original Goblin Bros. site featured a large animation on the home page as well as multiple areas that were more ‘about us’ than about the visitor. We know that website visitors are primarily interested in ‘What’s in it for me?’ and the new design is built around that. Here’s what you get when you visit Goblin Bros. Even the menu item for the retail store is labelled Visit because we wanted to promote the idea of a visit to the store as being a special all-day event. So we included driving directions, places to park downtown, things to do in the area and even where to eat and where to stay in the area.
